Gillis’ Max is a wellābalanced workingāline Belgian Malinois selected for his genetic stability, athletic structure, and strong working potential. He represents the type of dog we aim to produce—capable, driven, and sound, with the genetics to support longāterm health.
Max has been AKC DNA Profiled for identity and parentage verification and has completed AKC Health Testing. He is clear for the primary Belgian Shepherd neurological conditions, including Cerebellar Ataxia Type 1, Cerebellar Ataxia Type 2, and Degenerative Myelopathy.
Max is a carrier for Cardiomyopathy & Juvenile Mortality, a recessive condition. This status does not affect his health or working ability, and when paired with a clear female—as in our current breeding—no affected puppies can be produced. This allows us to preserve valuable working genetics while maintaining a responsible, healthāfocused breeding program.
Structurally, Max is athletic and functional, with a sable/fawn coat and black mask, short coat, and classic Malinois type. Puppies produced from Max are expected to be wellāsuited for working roles, sport, and active companion homes when placed appropriately.

AKC DNA Profiling is used to verify a dog’s identity and parentage.
It confirms that the dogslisted in a breeding are the actual parents of the litter.
DNA profiling does not evaluate
health—it ensures transparency, traceability, and accurate records.
What Is AKC Health Testing?
AKC Health Testing screens for known inherited genetic conditions using validated DNA markers.
Results identify whether a dog is Clear, a Carrier, or At Risk/Affected for specific diseases.
These results allow breeders to make informed pairing decisions to avoid producing affected puppies.
Understanding Clear, Carrier, and Affected
- Clear: The dog does not carry the mutation for the tested condition.
- Carrier: The dog carries one copy of a recessive mutation but is not affected.
- Affected: The dog carries two copies of the mutation and may develop the disease.
- Clear: The dog does not carry the mutation for the tested condition.
What Does a Paired Breeding Mean?
When two dogs are paired responsibly, their genetic results are evaluated together.
A Clear × Clear or Carrier × Clear pairing ensures that no puppies will be genetically affected by the condition tested.
Carrier × Carrier pairings are avoided to prevent affected offspring.
What to Expect in Puppies
In a Carrier × Clear pairing, puppies may be either Clear or Carriers.
Carrier status does not impact health, temperament, or working ability. It only becomes relevant if that dog is bred in
the future.
